Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) is the metabolically active form of vitamin B6 found in the body, and is known to be necessary for the transformation and utilisation of amino acids for many functions in the body, including energy production and neurotransmitter synthesis. It is often used to support the brain and nervous system, reduce premenstrual tension/syndrome, and reduce severity of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. Among many things, it is biochemically required for haemoglobin formation, the conversion of homocysteine to cysteine in the transsulfuration pathway and the conversion of folate in the methylation cycle.
